(MOT: Mostly Off-Topic)
For better or for worse, I was listening to NPR a few days ago. Actually, I listen to it pretty much every day. I appreciate it so much that I actually donated to my local NPR distributor this morning.
A few days ago, I heard someone on NPR comment briefly that with the upcoming elections and the massive financial troubles eating up all of the airwaves, the recent hurricanes (and their effects) have gotten lost in the shuffle. It occurred to me that this is really quite unfortunate. I don’t mean to say that elections and economies aren’t important, but there are people along the gulf coast who are seriously struggling.
So here’s the slightly on-topic part of the post. You can make a donation online! Okay, I know it’s a stretch. But I do think it’s important for us to be nice to each other once in a while, even if “each other” includes people we’ve never met.
